Summer Vacation with Baby and Kids: Clothes, Sunglasses & Essentials

Finally vacation – but what to pack?

Vacation with a baby and children is wonderful – and needs to be well-planned. Besides diapers, pacifiers, and their favorite stuffed animal, one question primarily arises: What will the little ones wear? And how do we properly protect them from the sun? We have compiled the most important essentials.

👕 Clothing for summer

• Light organic cotton baby t-shirts – breathable, skin-friendly, and quick-drying. It's best to pack several changes.
• Baby hoodie or light sweatshirt – indispensable for cooler evenings by the sea or in the mountains
• Prefer light colors – they reflect the sun's rays better than dark shades

☀️ Sun protection – the absolute must-have

• Sunscreen with high SPF (50+) – specially formulated for babies and children, without fragrances and parabens. For babies under 6 months, it's best to keep them out of the sun entirely.
• Head covering – essential! A light sun hat with neck protection is a must. It protects the head, ears, and neck – the most commonly forgotten areas when it comes to sun protection.
• Sunglasses with UV400 protection – mandatory at the beach, in the snow, and in high mountains. The eyes of babies and toddlers are particularly sensitive to UV rays. Look for CE marking and an elastic band.
• Category 3 or 4 recommended for strong sun exposure
• Avoid midday sun – seek shade between 11 am and 3 pm

🪨 Cuddling & sleeping on the go

• Merino wool baby blanket – temperature-regulating and versatile: in the crib at night, in the stroller, in air-conditioned rooms, or simply anywhere on the go. Merino wool helps regulate temperature – warm enough for cooler nights, not too hot for mild summer evenings.
